Screen Frame: The screen frame is made of extruded aluminum. Frame corners are mitered and assembled with zinc corner keys. The frame profile is less than 1” wide and will typically not reduce the sight line. Three standard frame colors are available: white, tan, bronze.

Screen Mesh and Spline: The screen mesh is a charcoal colored fiberglass, and will not rust. The spline is rubber, colored black.

Venetian Blind: The 1005 Series is available with a 5/8” blind only. The blind is located between the screen mesh and the window glass. (See 5/8" Blind Specifications for details.) The blind and the blind’s hardware is factory installed onto the screen frame. This eliminated all concerns about measuring for proper blind size. The blind’s headrail, sillrail, cords, ladders, and components are color coordinated with the blinds 16 standard colors. The blind’s sillrail is held in place with hold-down pins to prevent the blind from blowing around in the wind when the window sash is opened. The tilt control mechanisms are installed out of view, behind the screen frame. The tilt control knob is color coordinated to match the screen frame and is located on the face of the frame, 4 ½ “ from the sill, on either the right or the left. The tilt control incorporates a slip clutch mechanism to minimize damage due to over-tilting the blinds. The lift cords on this series are located behind the screen and are not easily accessible. This will reduce the risk of injury associated with venetian blind lift cords. Due to the size of the slat and the slight crown the 5/8” blind virtually disappears, when in the open position, making raising the blind unnecessary. The building will maintain a consistent look, from the exterior, when all the blinds are kept in a down position.

Installation: The Screen Blind is installed into the window using mechanisms that closely resemble the mechanisms currently used by the window manufacturer to install screens. Mechanisms include: flat springs at either the head or the sill and spring plungers.
